What an enlightening conversation with the BUTTERFLY in the Animal Wisdom Circle this month!
The Butterfly we connected with was a female Glasswing Butterfly living in Costa Rica. She told us she chose this butterfly species to reincarnate in several times so she could really learn her lesson of non-attachment. It was super interesting!
She shared how optimism and openness are natural outcomes of non-attachment and that underlying it all was the certainty that the Universe provides for us. It was a fascinating, spiritually informative conversation.
Spiritual Guidance from a Butterfly
The Butterfly’s Spiritual GIFT is Optimism and Openness. She said that when we live in openness, we see all the possibilities so we are naturally optimistic. Her Spiritual LESSON is Non-Attachment. She noted that humans have a lot of resistance and this limits us and our ability to see what’s around us and how we are taken care of. According to her, that leads to attachment. Her MESSAGE to people is “It’s okay to melt down. Good things come from that.” Just like the caterpillar melts down in the cocoon to become a butterfly, we, too, can melt down to transform ourselves.
Butterfly Changed My Perspective
A few weeks after my conversation with the Butterfly, I felt the pressure building inside me to speak up about an issue in my relationship with my husband. I was waiting for the ‘right time’ to talk to him but mostly I was avoiding confrontation and worrying that there would be negative consequences if I spoke up to him about the problems I was having. The pressure built up until I had a meltdown and everything came exploding out of me. My husband heard me out, totally understood my feelings and the pressure, and 100% supported me.
My old pattern of holding back and fearing that if I spoke up I’d lose the relationship (a pattern established in childhood) was proven wrong one more time. One of these days I will get over this issue! My point is , though, that until I started writing this blog, I had forgotten Butterfly’s message that good things come from meltdowns! And as I was reminded of it today, I realized that she was totally right! Good things came from my meltdown. My husband and I are closer and more open with each other and enjoying each other more. And I feel so much lighter and more relaxed with that huge weight of all the unsaid words off my shoulders.
Thanks, Butterfly, for the reminder that it’s okay to melt down and release all of those limiting beliefs that I find lurking inside me!
Now It’s Your Turn
I hope you enjoy your Animal Wisdom for the Week. I invite you to keep Butterfly’s wisdom with you this week as you get busy, face all the challenges that we all have in our lives and see if you can bring a new perspective to your life. To help you do that, I’ve made a guided meditation for you, matching breathing to her wisdom for a totally relaxing mindfulness meditation.
I’d love to what you think about Butterfly’s wisdom and the Guided Meditation! Please share your experience in the comments.
