Grounding Cord to the Rescue!

“To know me is to know how to set your grounding cord!” – Dr. Cara

I say this all the time and I also say that setting a grounding cord should be required curriculum in kindergarten!

Friday afternoon, I experienced a new grounding cord miracle in my life.

My daughter Lexi started playing volleyball this year and I was watching her 6th game of the season. Her team had won their first game, but were behind in the second game. Their spirits were good, but I wanted a win!

Watching on the bleachers, every once in a while I’d notice that I had my hands clenched together, my arm muscles were bulging, and my breathing was shallow. Whew, time for a grounding cord, Cara!

Then Lexi was up to serve and I gave her a grounding cord. While I was at it, I gave her whole team a grounding cord. They proceeded to gain 5 points and move ahead for the first time all afternoon!

Lexi’s team won that second game and I thought my work here was done. But a losing streak in the third game (the team needed to win 2 out of 3 games to win the series) set my hands to clenching again. I grounded myself, and Lexi and her team, and the game turned around again. Now I was on a roll! Whenever the team made a mistake or lost a point, I gave them a new grounding cord.

Lexi’s team won the 3rd game and the series!

Root Beer Floats for everyone!!!

Now, can I say unequivocally that it was my grounding cords that made the difference for Lexi’s team? No, I don’t know for sure that they are responsible for the outcome, but I know that they are calming and grounding and centering – just the things you need when you are competing at sports.

This was a fun discovery/play time for me. I had never used a grounding cord for a whole group of people before and it turned out really well!

New to Grounding Cords?

If you don’t know how to set your grounding cord, listen to the recording below that will walk you through the process here. (I also teach grounding cords in my Opening to Intuition and Talk with the Animals classes.) This recording is part of Lesson One in my Talk with the Animals class, which I teach a couple times each year.

Now it’s your turn

How do you use grounding cords? What’s your craziest grounding cord story? Post your story so we can all learn another way to use grounding cords to make our lives better.
