One Word for 2017

New Year, New You

The New Year automatically seems to make us think about the future and fresh beginnings. It’s energizing, uplifting and inspiring. We are re-creating ourselves every day, but a new year brings it’s own magic to the table. There’s new energy abounding and if we can harness that energy, we can use it for our growth and happiness.

Three Traditions

Over the years, I’ve tried all kinds of ceremonies and rituals for creating an auspicious start to the new year. Three of them have proved themselves in my life and have stuck with me.

1. Choosing an activity on New Year’s Day that embodies a dream or goal for my life (this year it’s my Elephant Blessing Retreat in Thailand).

2. Creating a Vision or Dream Drawing for the Year (here is my Vision for 2016).

3. Choosing a Word to embody for the year. (Here is my word for 2016.)

Last Year, This Year

My word for last year was right on because 2016 was a magical year in so many ways – I enjoyed my family and friends, renewed my friendship with one of my oldest, dearest friends who had somehow fallen off my radar, hiked with the dogs almost every day, enjoyed great theater, rejoiced in seeing my daughter come into herself and her dreams in a new way, connected with animals in new, deeper ways, had heart-opening and meaningful connections with my clients, and deepened into my practice of faith, patience and trust (Thank you, Naamfon!).

But 2016 was also tumultuous for me in my personal life. My husband was hospitalized twice and was out of work for two months. A few family relationships got frayed due to all the stress. I realized some old patterns inside myself that were causing me suffering and needed to be healed. I was scared, stressed, sleepless and unsettled for many months. It was intense!

My Word for 2017

And that’s how my Word for 2017 came to me: I wanted to feel at peace with my life. I wanted to give up striving and trying and judging. I wanted to really feel at ease with my life, in total alignment with my family and my business. I wanted to feel at peace with it all. So here is my Word for 2017:

2017 Virtual Visioning Retreat

Each year, I offer a Virtual Visioning Retreat to guide my coaching clients through my Visioning Process so that they can create their own Dream Drawing to  inspire them throughout the coming year. This year, I’m opening the event up to everyone.

I hope you’ll join me! We’ll meet live online on Friday Feb. 3, 2017 from 10am – 12pm Pacific time. You’ll create your Dream Drawing, clear your blocks to your vision and walk away with greater clarity about who you are and where you’re going and a visual reminder of your inner guidance and inspiration. These drawing have been INVALUABLE for me on my journey! I know they will be for you, too! (And because I want to make sure this powerful event is available to everyone, your investment is only $22.)
